Dutch DPA host of International Privacy Conference 2015
The Dutch Data Protection Authority (Dutch DPA) will be the host of the 37th International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners. This conference will be held in Amsterdam from 26 to 29 October 2015.
Data protection authorities from all over the world meet every year during the International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners, which is also partly open for representatives from industry, non-governmental organisations and academia.
The focus of the 2015 conference is ‘privacy bridges’. During the conference, the results of the Privacy Bridges Project will be presented. This project was launched in April 2014 on the initiative of Jacob Kohnstamm, the chairman of the Dutch DPA.
The project group consists of independent legal and technical experts in the field of privacy and data protection from both the European Union and the United States. The aim is to provide a framework of practical options that advance strong, globally-accepted privacy values in a manner that produces 'privacy bridges', respecting the substantive and procedural differences between the two jurisdictions."
“We would like to work on pragmatic solutions for effective protection of personal data worldwide, without tampering with the fundamental differences between the legal systems”, says Kohnstamm.
